The fame of New York’s techno music revitalization over the past few years
cannot be accounted for without acknowledging the work of one Israeli-born DJ
and Producer named Elon. His distinctive twist on sound tick-les the borders of
house and techno and stems from his gravitation toward understanding various
aspects of sound and the fundamentals of music production. His solid
instrumental background in bass and guitar, augmented by his longtime work as
a sound engineer, ensures that he brings a canny sense of musicianship
to his DJing and production work.
Elon performs immaculate Live PAs comprised of a spectrum of deep, swanky
beats fused with punchy accents. His attention to detail and creative ideas
achieve an undeniably soul-grabbing sound in his music, which is both emotive
and undoubtedly danceable. Whether he is playing live or DJing, Elon is
comfortable on stage at any time – from the peak hours of a popular nightclub to
the longer enduring morning time-slots at underground events.
Since Elon first started releasing his music on labels in 2006 he’s garnered some
much-deserved attention for his work. In the spring of 2007 Elon released his
“Movin’ In” EP on Jesse Rose’s Made to Play imprint label.
In fact, Rose was so impressed with “Movin’ In” that he not only signed it, but
included the track on his mix CD, ‘Body Language Vol. 3’ on the popular German
label, Get Physical. Since then, Elon has enjoyed a steady release schedule,
with EPs out on Infant Records, and successive releases on Clink. His track
“Radio Engine” did well and later his track “Green Ghost” charted for four weeks
on Beatport.com’s minimal genre
Top Ten Downloads list.
This staggering momentum of Elon’s production career continued in 2008, as
Clink released his phenomenal EP entitled “Noose” in April. All three tracks from
that EP subsequently landed on Beatport.com’s Top 100 Minimal charts, for
several consecutive weeks. His acclaimed title-track “Noose” remained steadily
fixed in the top ten spots for the entire month, reaching top five at its peak. As the
exciting year of 2008 for Elon continued, his “Birds” EP was released on Dumb-
Unit Records in Berlin, and his “Snorting Pinky” EP came out on Auralism.
Various other collaborations and remix projects surfaced and his cumulative
production output guaranteed Elon’s place on the tips of music fans’ tongues
scattered throughout pockets of the global techno music scene.
When he’s around his current home-base of New York City, Elon continues to
delight techno music fans as aresident DJ at Resolute events. Further from
home, Elon has taken to jet-setting, and in 2009, he’s embarked on his second
international DJ tour, making it as far as South America, Australia and Europe.
Elon’s performance abilities, combined with his dedication to music and his solid
release schedule, keep him on the minds of many as one of the most inspiring
new artists to watch.
